Transform asset inspection in the oil and gas industry with specialized AI Machine Vision

Inspect pipelines, refining facilities and offshore rigs using drones that leverage cloud and AI to extract meaningful insights from the data.

How it works

There are two distinct approaches. For fixed assets, drones are flown manually. This approach is used for refineries, offshore rigs and terrestrial drilling facilities. For linear assets such as gas and oil pipelines, autonomous drones with charging stations provide the ideal solution. For both approaches, the inspection area is first surveyed. Inspection missions are then flown and the drone data is sent to the cloud for analysis.

This is usually done post-mission, manually uploading the data from the drone to the cloud. However in emergency situations, such as damage after a natural disaster, analysis can be done in real-time, based on the live streamed data at 1080p quality resolution.

The integrated AI service provides the analysis for both optical and thermal scans. Alerts are built-in and can be tailored to actions desired by the customer, e.g. dispatching a work-order notification for maintenance and so on. This decision-making takes place on the data integrated enterprise dashboard, a core deliverable in the solution.

Replacing costly, laborious, and time-consuming inspection methods

There are thousands of miles of oil and gas pipelines, crisscrossing the country. All have to be inspected regularly for proper maintenance. Automated drone operations with cloud relay of sensor data are a game-changing tool for organizing and analyzing huge amounts of visual data.

Refineries

Exterior inspections of refineries is well suited for drones. Optical and thermal cameras can capture the most minute anomalies, which a trained AI can identify.

Offshore rigs

Drones with an aerial vantage point offer significant advantages over traditional inspection methods, which are high-cost and high-risk missions.

Pipelines

Gas and oil pipelines are linear assets which can be inspected using autonomous, high-endurance drones with automatic terrain following.
